Charles Nalle Series

Many slaves were the children of their white masters. This was the situation in the case of a freedom seeker named Charles Nalle. His mother was impregnated by their owner. When their owner died his property was passed down to his white son. That property included ownership of his half brother, Charles Nalle. He was from Culpepper, County Virginia and escaped, October 1858 and settled in Sandlake, New York. His owner was given a tip by a crooked lawyer who Charles trusted, using the information he obtained to inform his brother of Charles’ whereabouts.  His brother set out in hot pursuit of Charles and was apprehended in Troy, New York, an abolitionist town. These works of art, vividly tell the story of the Charles Nalle account.
